Sports career: Began diving training in Hunan Spare-time Sports School and chosen by the Hunan provincial team in 1982. Joined the national team for intensified training in January 1986.

At present: Entered the International Business College of Hunan University in August 1993 as a student of industrial foreign-trade. Became deputy director of the Hunan provincial sports team after retirement in 1997. Returned to the pool as a diver in May 1998 and retired again three years later. Now deputy secretary of the Party committee of the Hunan Provincial Sport Administration, deputy director of the Chaoyang Developing Zone in Yiyang City and deputy secretary of the Yiyang working committee.
