
(Beijing, December 22) On December 22, 2009, Liu Peng, Minister in charge of the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC), met with Park Gap Chul, President of the Asian Sports Press Union (ASPU), Chu Hoi-Kun, President of the Hong Kong Sports Press Association (HKSPA), and Lau Iu Kong, Board Chairman of the Macao Sports Press Association (MSPA), who made a special trip to Beijing to attend the celebration gala for the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Sports Press Association (CSPA).
Liu Peng extended a warm welcome to the visting guests, saying through the 30 years' of development Chinese Sports Press Assocation had become an organization with over 10,000 members. Liu then expressed his thanks to the Asian Sports Press Union for its long-time support and help to China's sports press undertaking.
Liu congratulated President Chu on Hong Kong's successful hosting of the 5th East Asian Games as well as its historic best achievement of winning 26 gold medals at the Games. In the past 10 years, Liu noted, Chinese mainland had worked closely with Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions in the fields of sports and sports press and he hoped that such ties would be strengthened in the years to come.
The celebration gala for the 30th anniversary of the founding of the CSPA will be held in the Assembly Hall of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on the evening of December 23.
Present at the meeting were Feng Jianzhong, Vice Minister in Charge of the GASC, and Zhang Haifeng, Director, and Wen Wen and Shao Shiwei, deputy directors, of the GASC Press and Publicity Department, Hong Jong Suh, ASPU Secretary-General, and Fong Nim-Seong , Secretary-General of the MSPA.
