Philippines VP J. Binay meets Chinese sports minister Liu Peng

24 November 2011 - On the afternoon of 23 November 2011, Jejomar Binay, Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines, met with the visiting Chinese Sports Minister and COC President Liu Peng in Manila.

Over the past 36 years ever since the establishment of the Philippine-Chinese diplomatic relations, Liu Peng noted, top leaders of the two countries have exchanged frequent visits,  which resulted in fruitful exchanges and cooperation in various fields. He expressed the wish that the two sides would strengthen ties through further cooperation to promote understanding and friendship between the two nations.

Jejomar Binay stressed that the Philippines has attached great importance to the relations with China and admired China's achivements made in the past decades. He made special mention of China's tremendous successes in the sports field, and hoped that both countries would benefit from more bilateral exchanges and cooperation by further improving their athletic levels before long.

At the invitation of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the Chinese sports delegation began its visit to the Philippines on 22 November 2011.
