Liu Peng meets Philippine Sports Commission chief R. Garcia

20 March 2012, Beijing - China's Minister in charge of the General Administraion of Sport (GASC) and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) Liu Peng met with the visiting Philippine sports delegation headed by Ricardo R. Garcia, Chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), in Beijing on 20 March 2012.

Extending a warm welcome to the Philippine guests, Liu Peng affirmed the exchanges and cooperation in various fields in the past 37 years ever since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, and believed that the PSC president's visit in this China-Philippine Year of Friendship would help carry the cooperation between the two sports circles a step forward.

The Philippine sports leader expressed his thanks to his host for the warm reception he had received in China. He said they had learned a lot through their visit to the scientific research institutions under the GASC. It is his hope that more Philippine coaches could come to China to learn from their Chinese counterparts in scientific sports training in order for them to gain breakthroughs in certain sports in the near future.

Liu Peng agreed by saying that in the past China had worked together on athletes exchanges with the Philippines and would be happy to continue to help with their athletes and coaches training.

The two sides also exchanges views on other issues of common interest.

Present at the meeting were Song Luzeng, COC Secretary-General, and other officials from the GASC.
