28 Aug 2014 - Manama, Bahrain: Bahrain Olympic Committee General Secretary Abdulrahman Askar has offered his complete support to the development of sport in Palestine. His pledge came during a meeting with Khalid Al Sayyad, head of Palestine's Olympic football team who are holding a training camp in Bahrain. During the meeting, which was also attended by Bahrain Football Association President Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Askar praised the strong ties between Bahrain and Palestine in all areas, especially sport, and expressed pride in hosting the Palestinian team delegation.
Askar also congratulated Palestine on winning the AFC Challenge Cup earlier this year, thus ensuring themselves a place in the AFC Cup next year. The BOC General Secretary also stressed the keenness of sports leaders in Bahrain to welcome sports delegations from Palestine and to provide different ways of supporting them, while wishing them further progress.
On his part, Al Sayyad extended his appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain for its warm welcome and hospitality, and conveyed the greetings of Gen. Jibril Rajoub, President of the Palestine Olympic Committee and Palestine Football Association, to Bahrain and its Olympic committee.
Al Sayyad said he was pleased with the success of the Palestinian football team camp in Bahrain, and noted the significant development of Bahrain sport at all levels. He hoped for further cooperation between the two parties.
