OCA President Sheikh Ahmad meets IAGOC President Kim Young-Soo

17 Sep 2014 - Incheon, Korea: The President of the Olympic Council of Asia, HH Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, met with the Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee President, Mr Kim Young-Soo, at the IAGOC headquarters on Wednesday. Sheikh Ahmad congratulated the President of IAGOC and his team on the preparations for the Incheon Asian Games which will open on September 19 with approximately 15,000 athletes and officials from 45 National Olympic Committees in 36 sports and 439 events.

The IAGOC submitted that the opening ceremony will see a full house as all 62,000 seats at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium is expected to be filled up. Sheikh Ahmad said that all the stakeholders must deliver what they have been working for during the past seven years. “Let’s give a good symbol of Korea to the athletes, media, spectators and everyone at the games.”

HH Sheikh Ahmad said that just by looking at the volunteers’ colorful apparel, one can tell that this is going to be a very colorful games. “Diversity is really shinning here in Korea.” In appreciation for the continuous support from the OCA and from Sheikh Ahmad, Mr Kim presented Sheikh Ahmad with the commemorative coins of the Incheon Asian Games.

The commemorative coins are available in gold, silver and bronze and a limited number of coins will be available for sale during the games period. Sheikh Ahmad was also presented with an exclusive stamp book on the Incheon Asian Games. HH Sheikh Ahmad is expected to participate at the torch relay ceremony later in the evening. The Incheon Asian Games will run from September 19 to October 4.
