24 April 2015, Beijing - On 22 April 2015, Liu Peng, Director of the General Administration of Sport of China (GASC) and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) met with a delegation led by Tam Chon Weng, Secretary of Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR in Beijing.
On behalf of GASC, Liu welcomed the delegation, acclaimed the great progress of Macao's sports cause in recent years, and expected the sports circles on both sides to further deepen sports exchanges and cooperation under the principles of "one country, two systems", "Macao people administering Macao" and "a high degree of autonomy" and the relevant provisions of the Basic Law, thus making greater contributions to promoting the sports development of both sides and the friendship between compatriots on both sides.
Tam thanked GASC for its long-term strong support for Macao's sports development, undertaking to continue to cement the two sides' exchanges and cooperation in fields such as competitive sports, mass sports, game organization, anti-doping, sports talents and base construction.
Tam assumed his office as the Secretary of Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR at the end of last year. Present at the meeting were Song Luzeng, Director of the External Affairs Department of China's General Administration of Sport.
