PARIS, April 18 (Xinhua) -- At 100 days to go to the London 2012 Olympic Games, France is well preparing its athletes from 28 different disciplines for "history-making victory."
Bagging 41 medals in Beijing Olympic games, including seven gold, the French Olympic team started preparation for London tournaments one year ago, eager to win up to 10 gold medals.
"Our objective is to do as well as Beijing where we recorded a very good result. We want to do more to put France among the top eight nations," said Bernard Amsalem, head of the French Olympic delegation.
"The first phase is to be qualified and then more training is on the agenda to improve athletes' skills," he told Xinhua.
Up to 380 French athletes will participate in the London Games. They were 323 in Beijing in 2008 and 341 in Athens in 2004.
First French athletes will fly to London between July 17 and 18, Amsalem said.
For the Paralympics Games, the French Federation of Sports for the Disabled numbered about 200 athletes to compete in the Games, which will kick off two weeks after the closing of the Olympic Games.
With the aim to lead its athletes to the podium, France has spent 663 million euros (867.96 million U.S. dollars) over the past four years, pledging to offer 50,000 euros to Olympic champions, 20,000 to silver medalists and 13,000 to bronze medalists.
