London Olympics update: Jordan

30 May 2012, Amman, Jordan: Under the patronage of HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, President of Jordan Olympic Committee and IOC member, Jordan NOC held a ceremony in honour of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games delegations in Amman on May 16. Held at the residence of the British Ambassador, Peter Millett, the event was attended by the Jordan Paralympic Committee President, HRH Prince Raad bin Zaid.

Speaking to a large gathering of media, HRH Prince Feisal wished the athletes the best of luck and said he was hopeful that the long-awaited first Olympic medal for Jordan could be secured in London. Nine athletes will represent Jordan in the Olympics while 14 athletes will take part in the Paralympic Games.

Olympics: Mohammad Abu Lebdeh, Nadi Dwani, Dana Haider (Taekwondo), Ibrahim Besharat (Equestrian), Ihab Darweesh (Boxing), Talita Baqleh, Kareem Innab (Swimming), Methqal Al Abbadi, Rima Fareed (Athletics).

Paralympics: Maha Al Bargouthi, Khetam Abu Awad, Fatima Al Azzam (Table Tennis) Fatima Al Lawi, Omar Qaradeh, Mo’taz Al Juniadi, Faisal Hammash, Haidarah Kawamleh, Mohammad Torbash (Weightlifting) Amer Al Abbadi, Jamil Al Shebli, Ayman Al Jbour, Abed Al Ramahi, Belal Sa’adeh (Athletics).
