Singapore to send 18 athletes to London

SINGAPORE, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Singapore unveiled its athlete line-up on Friday for the London Olympics, which kicks off on July 27.

Joseph Schooling, a 16-year-old swimmer who was named the city state's Sports of the Year, will compete in the 100 meters and 200 meters butterfly events, the Singapore National Olympic Council said.

Singapore will again feature a competitive team in table tennis. Both Feng Tianwei and Wang Yuegu will be competing in the women's singles events. They will also partner with Lia Jiawei to compete for the women's team medal.

For the men's events, Gao Ning and Yang Zi will both compete in the singles events. They and a third player will also be competing in the team events.

Yao Lei and Shinta Mulia Sari will go for the women's badminton doubles. Derek Wong and Gu Juan will compete in the men's and women's badminton singles.

Colin Cheng Xinru and Elizabeth Yin Yue Ling will take part in the sailing events. Lim Heem Wei will compete in the women's artistic gymnastics.

Gary Yeo Foo Ee and Dipna Lim Prasad will take part in athletics, while Lee Wei Ling Geraldine will compete in the 200 meters and 500 meters canoeing events.
