2013-06-07 - The second PR Roadshow for the 2014 Incheon Asian Games was held on June 2, 2013 in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
Participating in this event were Mr. Song Young-gil, Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee; Mr. Yusuf Al Serkal, the First Vice President of the UAE National Olympic Committee; Mr. Mohammad Al Mahmoud, the Vice President of the UAE Sports Authority; Mr. Kwon Tae-gyun, the Korean Ambassador to the UAE; and approximately 100 sports figures, sponsors, and media.
At the Roadshow, a Goodwill Ambassador for the 2014 Incheon Asian Games for the UAE was named – Sheikha Latifah bint Ahmed bin Juma Al Maktoum, a member of the ruling family of Dubai and a silver medalist in the Equestrian event at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.
Mayor Song, on behalf of Incheon Metropolitan City, presented a fund in support of the development of youth sports in the UAE, through its Vision 2014 program. Following a presentation on the preparations of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, Incheon Dance Theater gave a performance of the Korean traditional dances.
In his remarks, Mayor Song thanked the UAE NOC for supporting the PR Roadshow, and said, “In this age when Asia as a continent is emerging as a central player in the world stage, we are striving to make the Incheon Asian Games an occasion for all the Asian countries to come together in peace and harmony.”
Mr. Al Serkal remarked, “We are very proud to be selected as one of only six locations for the 2014 Asian Games PR Roadshow. We hope the Asian Games will be an event which will be enjoyed by all Asians.”
The event drew much attention from the UAE media, and Mayor Song had many interviews following the Roadshow, in which he presented a firm assurance for a successful Asian Games.
There are four remaining PR Roadshows in 2013 for the Incheon Asian Games, in New Delhi, Singapore, Hanoi, and Guangzhou.
