The main construction work on three venues and one service center for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Zhangjiakou, Hebei province will be completed by the end of the year, according to a report from Hebei Daily.

The venues — a ski jumping center, a cross-country skiing center and a biathlon center — and the service center or Olympic village, are four of the total eight venues that Zhangjiakou is building for the 24th Winter Olympics in 2022, according to the city’s office of the leading group for organizing the games.

Among them, four are for competitions and the rest are for services, including the Olympic village, a press center and a center for awards ceremonies, said Gao Yingxia, head of the office’s marketing department.

The Olympic village will host conferences, ceremonies, cultural events and exhibitions during the games and will provide services like medical treatment and catering, according to the Hebei Daily report.

There will be 109 events held during the 2022 Winter Olympics, 51 of which will be hosted in Zhangjiakou and the rest in Beijing, Gao said.

To be prepared for the games, Zhangjiakou has carried out construction on 76 projects, including venues and support facilities. About 21 percent of the projects have been finished, Gao said.

The city will also host seven test events in 2021 to check readiness levels.
