SEOUL, March 16 (Xinhua) -- South Korea coach Colin Bell has picked 28 footballers, including three based in England, for the Tokyo Olympic qualifier against China next month, the Korea Football Association (KFA) said Tuesday.

The players will gather at the National Football Center in Paju, just north of capital Seoul, on March 22, and the roster will be scaled down to 20 players after the final training camp.

The three England-based players are Ji So-yun of Chelsea, Cho So-hyun of Tottenham Hotspur and Lee Geum-min of Brighton & Hove Albion.

The KFA said it is in talks with the three players' clubs for their release.

The South Korean women's national football team has been in the World Cup finals three times, but it has yet qualified for the Olympic Games, according to the KFA.

South Korea will have two playoffs with China for one Olympic berth: the first match at Goyang Stadium in Goyang, just northwest of Seoul, on April 8, and the second at Suzhou Olympic Sports Center in China on April 13.

The South Korean team is ranked 18th in the world, three notches below China, according to Yonhap news agency.

In the past 37 head-to-head games, South Korea had four wins, six draws and 27 losses. Enditem
