WASHINGTON, July 17, 2005 (Xinhuanet) -- China was beaten by Canada 2-3 and was eliminated from contention for the championship on Sunday in the baseball World Cup in Oklahoma City.

China, 1-3 overall after the Sunday¡¯s game, will play in the fourth-place game on Monday.

Kristy Odamura tripled in one run and scored on a squeeze bunt by Angela Lichty in a three-run sixth inning to help Canada win the game.

Rachel Schill started the rally with a one-out single, then scored on Odamura¡¯s triple. After Sheena Lawrick was intentionallywalked, Lichty dropped a suicide squeeze bunt in front of home plate as Odamura raced home to put Canada ahead 2-1.

China starter Lu Wei (0-1) fielded Lichty¡¯s bunt, but her throwhome was too late. One out later, Alison Bradley added an RBI single for Canada (2-2).

Sun Li had a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to bring China to 3-2, but reliever Danielle Lawrie (2-1) was able to get out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam by allowing only the one run.

Yu Huili also had an RBI single for China.

Canada (2-2) was also eliminated from the final because of earlier losses to Australia and Japan.
