JINAN, East China, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Lu Chunlong and He Wenna, who won the men's and women's trampoline Olympic champions respectively last year, both suffered surprise defeats at the 11th Chinese National Games here on Wednesday.

Lu took the bronze in the men's event after Olympic bronze medalist and his good friend Dong Dong and Tu Xiao. He Wenna finished a distant fifth in the women's final, with former world champion Zhong Xingping and Li Dan winning the gold and silver.

The 20-year-old Lu said he was satisfied with his performance, but his rivals did simply better than him.

"The competitions here at the Nation Games are even more fierce than the Beijing Olympics," he said. "A mere slip can cost your chance to win the title."

He, China's first trampoline Olympic champion, was very disappointed with her loss. She said that she was too nervous to add the national champion to her Olympic title.

"Nobody knew me before the Beijing Olympics and they did not care what I could do then," she said. "But now, everything is different, the fans do not want to see me lose."

Lu said he was also under too much pressure before the competitions but he was confident that he can win the Olympic champion again in London.

Trampoline made its Olympic debut in Sydney in 2000. In the Athens Olympics in 2004, China's female trampolinist Huang Shanshan won China's first Olympic trampoline medal, a bronze.
