Poland's Dolega wins men's 105kg gold at weightlifting worlds

GOYANG, Korea, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Dolega Marcin of Poland won three gold medals in the men's 105kg category at the world weightlifting championships here on Sunday.

The 27-year-old lifted 195kg in the snatch and 226kg in the clean and jerk to finish with 421kg in total.

In the snatch, Dolega hoisted 195kg in his third attempt, one kilo more than his main rival, Lapikov Dmitry of Russia, the bronze medalist in the Beijing Olympics. Kuzilov Albert of Georgiatook the bronze with 187kg.

In the clean and jerk, Dolega lifted 226kg in his third attempt while both Lapikov and Kuzilov failed in their last two attempts to challenge higher weight.

Lapikov took silver in total with 416kg, and the bronze went to Kuzilov on 408kg.

Andrei Aramnau of Belarus, the world record holder and Beijing Olympics champion, pulled out of the competition due to injury.
