Hosts' athlete fails doping test at Commonwealth Games

NEW DELHI, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- An Indian track and field athlete has failed doping test at Commonwealth Games, officials said on Wednesday.

It was the third anti-doping violation of the event.

The athlete's name has not been revealed yet as the Commonwealth Games Federation has to receive confirmation that the competitor involved had been informed of the outcome of their test.

"As far as anti-doping is concerned, we have collected over 1,300 samples and I regret to inform you thet we have another positive result," CGF president Mike Fennell said.

"We can tell you that it is in the sport of athletics and the country is India." He said.

The athlete tested positive to nandrolone, a steroid.

Nigerian 110m hurdler Samuel Okon and Negerian women's 100m winner Osayemi Oludamola were the other two athletes who tested positive.
