Iranian table tennis players to compete at Olympics

06 Feb 2012, Tehran, Iran: The National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran reports that two Iranian table tennis players - Noshad Alamian and Neda Shahsavari - have qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Neda Shahsavari defeated Yelena Shagarova from Kazakhstan 4-1 at the Central Asia Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tehran.

Shahsavari is the first Iranian woman to qualify for the Olympic Games in table tennis, and said she was happy for all female table tennis players in Iran. Noshad Alamian also booked a berth in the upcoming Olympics after defeating his countryman Mohammad-Reza Akhlaghpasand 4-2. (Source: www.olympic.ir)
