COPENHAGEN, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Denmark will compete in the men's and women's marathon events, as well as several sailing events at the London Olympics 2012, the Danish Olympic Committee (DOC) said here Friday.

The latest additions to the Danish Olympic team include female marathon runner Jessica Draskau-Peterson, who ran last weekend's London Marathon in 2 hours, 34 minutes and 56 seconds to secure her place, the DOC said in a press statement.

Male marathon runner Jesper Faurschou had already grabbed the sole men's marathon spot in the Danish team, having run the London Marathon in 2 hours, 17 minutes and 38 seconds.

Moreover, Anne-Marie Rindom secured nomination in the Laser Radial class (sailing dinghy) event, while 18-year-old Sebastian Fleischer was selected for the RS:X class windsurfing event, the DOC said.

Danish athletes have also qualified in the following disciplines: table tennis, wrestling, boxing, hurdles, pole vault, 800 meters, archery, shooting, kayak, trampoline, match racing (sailing), rowing, swimming, cycling, horse riding, and men's handball.

With exactly three months to the summer games, the DOC said there are now 147 athletes in the pool of candidates from which it has to make final selections for Denmark's Olympic team.
