Chinese women's volleyball team returns to top of world

Beijing, August 21 (Chinese Olympic Committee)--The 15th day of Rio 2016 was wrapped up. China harvested four golds and one bronze. In the women's volleyball final, China came back from one set down to overcome Serbia, taking the gold back 12 years later. Chen Aisen claimed the men's 10m platform diving gold. Chen Long beat Lee Chong Wei to clinch the men's singles badminton gold. Zheng Shuyin was crowned in the women's taekwondo 67kg+ final. Feng Shanshan took the women's golf bronze, the first Olympic medal for Chinese golfers.

China took on Serbia which overwhelmed China 3-0 in a pool match in the high-profile women's volleyball final at the Maracanãzinho in Rio de Janeiro. China came back from a set down to beat Serbian 3-1 (19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-23) with powerful serves and blocks, winning China's 26th Olympic gold medal in Rio 2016. China retook the title 12 years later and topped the podium for the third time in the Olympic history of volleyball. Serbia settled for the sliver in their first Olympic final.

On badminton's final day in Rio 2016, China's Chen Long, in his first Olympic final, beat Malaysian veteran Li Chong Wei who edged out Lin Dan, to claim the men's singles gold. This is the second badminton gold won by China in Rio 2016. In the battle for the bronze earlier, Lin Dan was beaten by Viktor Axelsen 1-2 after taking the first game.

In the women's taekwondo 67kg+ final, China's Zheng Shuyin shrugged off Mexico's Maria Espinoza 5-1 after three intense rounds. This is the second taekwondo gold won by China in Rio 2016.

On diving's final day in Rio 2016, Chen Aisen claimed a comfortable win with 585.30 points to take the men's 10m platform gold back for China eight years later. He became the first diver to claim both the men's individual and synchronized platform titles in the Olympics. Qiu Bo settled for the sixth place with 488.20 points due to two stumbles.

The fourth round of the women's golf finished. China's Feng Shanshan shot 69 and won the bronze with a total of 274 (10-under). This is the first Olympic medal for Chinese golfers. South Korea's Inbee Park clinched the gold with 268 (16-under).

In the men's football final at Maracana Stadium, Brazil tied Germany at 1-1 in 120 minutes, but edged out Germany 5-4 on penalty kicks to claim Brazil's first Olympic men's football gold. Neymar scored Brazil's first goal with a first-half free kick and made a decisive penalty kick which helped Brazil beat Germany 6-5 to grab the gold.

The final day of Rio 2016 will open on the night of August 12 BJT. The winners of the last 12 events such as men's basketball, men's volleyball and men's marathon will be unveiled. The closing ceremony will take place at 7 AM August 22.
