Teenager Zhang beats world record to win 100m breaststroke SB11 gold

RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese teenager Zhang Xiaotong set a new world record to win gold in the women's 100m breaststroke SB11 at the Rio Olympics on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old clocked one minute 23.02 seconds to smash the previous record held by Liesette Bruinsma of the Netherlands by 1.61 seconds.

Bruinsma claimed silver in 1:25.81 and Sweden's Maja Reichard took bronze in 1:26.60.
