IIHF / Ice Hockey From February 10 to 13, 12 men¡¯s national teams will try to qualify for the remaining 3 vacant spots in the ice hockey tournament of the XX Olympic Winter Games in Turin, to be held from 10-26 February 2006. The teams ranked between 9 and 21 in the IIHF World Ranking will compete in 3 groups, playing out of: Zurich, Kloten (SUI), Riga (LAT) and Klagenfurt (AUT). Each group consists of 4 teams with only the winner in each group earning qualification to Turin. Canada (1), Sweden (2), Slovakia (3), Czech Republic (4), Finland (5), USA (6), Russia (7), Germany (8) and Italy (19) are already seeded into the Olympic tournament. The top eight teams in the IIHF World Ranking are automatically qualified, while Italy has a direct entry as the hosting nation.
UCI / Cycling The Belgian Flemish channel VRT recorded exceptional audience figures last weekend with the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in St-Wendel (BEL) with around 1 million TV viewers. This figure represents 66.5% of the market (2 TV viewers out of 3 watched the race.)
