Venezuela to compete in S. American synchro swim contest

CARACAS, Feb. 22, 2005 (Xinhuanet) -- The Venezuelan youth synchronized swimming team will depart Friday to Antofagasta, Chile, for the South American championship from February 28 to March 5.

The Venezuelan team will compete in the doubles, team and individuals.

This will be the first international competition for the team this year, said Tuesday Maria Castejon, the National Director of Synchronized Swimming.

The Youth Team A (13-14 years) will consist of Sindell Velasquez, Ylerca Guillen, Amanda Mendez, Isabella Santasola, Daniela Garmendia, Andrea Dopico, Yatrid Rodriguez, Doraly Cardenas and Grecia Sucre.

Team B (15-18 years) will include Rosamaria Avila, Marial Malicia, Lenny Astete, Lisset Fuentes, Fredmary Zambrano, Archandela Felice, Ana Mosqueda, Giannella Bello, Vanessa Ayala and Darling Hernandez.

Castejon indicated she will supervise, together with coaches Alejandra Contreras and Ana Osorio, the Venezuelan team that will also participate in the Andean Games 2005.
