International experts offered advice to Beijing on how the Olympic Games will promote the city’s economy and infrastructure development at a forum held here last week.

The first Olympic Games and Economic and City Development Forum was held in Beijing during Nov. 6-7, 2004. Officials, experts and academic members from IOC and the organizing committees of Barcelona and Salt Lake City Games attended the meeting.

They discussed the possible impact of the Olympic Games on various aspects of the Beijing city and surrounding areas, including regional economy, the cooperation between Beijing and other cities, industrial restructuring, infrastructure development, tourism, service industry, city image promotion and participation of local enterprises.

Officials from the Chinese government, the Chinese National Olympic Committee, BOCOG and Beijing municipal government attended the meeting.

The forum is organized by the People’s University of China and will be held annually in the next four years.
