Beijing 2008 Media Village Underway

29.11.2005 - On 25 November, construction began on the Media Village for the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Located outside the north fifth ring road of Beijing, the Media Village is to the northeast of the Olympic Green and the Olympic Forest Park.
Covering 630,000 square meters, the project is just five kilometers, or ten minutes drive, from the major competition venues and the Main Press Centre. It can provide up to 6,000 rooms to accredited media during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The centre incorporates new technologies and 'green' concepts into the design and construction of the project, such as the utilization of geothermal and solar energy, green construction materials and a rain water-recycling system. The project is scheduled to be completed by early 2008.
Around 3,500 accredited media representatives from all over the world are expected to come to Beijing during the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
