Beijing to ensure fulfillment of Olympic projects

(BEIJING, August 1) -- The Beijing Municipal Government has called for the enhancement of coordination to fulfill the construction of key Olympic projects.
The government found that in the first seven months of the year, its plan for construction and investment has been realized, with 21 Olympic projects moving forward on schedule.
Construction of rail and auxiliary projects has been on time, investment for roads around the Olympic projects and roads of the city at large has been completed and advancement has been seen in the construction of public utilities, the Beijing Daily reported, citing a report to the mayor’s meeting on July 31.
Funds used for the construction of key projects in the first half of the year were 12.7 percent higher than the same period last year, the report said, adding that coordination should be enhanced to ensure the smooth progress of key projects.
The mayor’s meeting urged the improvement of management, frugality and cleanliness among the leading cadres and importance of the principle focusing on safety, quality, function, construction time limit and cost to accomplish the mission for the rest of the year.
