(BEIJING, July 10) -- A fire engine with five voluntary firefighters is on standby at the Wukesong venues of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
Of the 31 Beijing-based competition venues, two are located at the Wukesong area in west Beijing. They are the Wukesong Basketball Field and Baseball Field.
Established by Wukesong Cultural and Sports Center, owner of the venues, and the police fire detachment in Beijing's Haidian District, the team, including a retired firefighter, has undergone a strict training and is now competent to control any fire before the fire brigade comes to the scene.
During a visit to the site in early July, BOCOG President Liu Qi praised the measure and urged all constructors in Beijing to put safety first.
