(BEIJING, March 22, 2006) -- Visiting delegates of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) took the chance this morning to see for themselves the Olympic venue for football competitions -- the Workers’ Stadium.
The officials carefully studied the athletes’ lobbies, referees’ room, doping control room, FIFA coordinator’s room, the football field and the stand, and inquired into the renovation plan of the Stadium.
They also observed the construction site of the Regent Beijing hotel, the designated hotel for Olympic football players. The hotel is expected to open in October this year.
On their schedule, the delegation will also visit the site of National Stadium, the training fields of the Olympic Stadium and the Beijing Union University this afternoon, with a press conference planned for tonight at the Olympic Press Center.
