On May 21, 2007, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) held an Executive Board meeting in Beijing. Following the proposal of its vice-president meeting, the CFA decided to postpone its General Congress scheduled for this year untill after the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

Currently, the Chinese Football Association has one president, Yuan Weimin, and 25 vice-presidents including Xie Yalong, Nan Yong, Xue Li and Yang Limin. Wang Junsheng, Wang Jun, Yan Shiduo and Zhang Jilong, who have worked in the CFA and are still concurrently CFA vice presidents, are members of the Executive Board. A total of 20 people attended the CFA EB meeting, with the absence of President Yuan Weimin and vice-presidents Zhang Jilong and Yan Shiduo.

The EB meeting lasted only for half a day. Vice-President and Secretary-General Xie Yalong delivered a work report on behalf of the CFA, giving an account of the preparations made by the national men's Olympic football team and the national women's football team for next year's Olympic Games, the work of the national league and the present situation of the junior football development. Following Xie's work report, CFA Vice-President Xue Li gave an "Explanation for the Revision of CFA Constitution" on behalf of the organization. This revision of the CFA constitution, according to Xue, has been made in accordance with the revision of the constitution of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). Following that, Yang Yimin, another CFA Vice-President, gave an "Explanation of the Proposal for Postponing the CFA General Congress". Due to its preparations for the 2008 Olympic Games, the AFC Men's Asian Cup and the FIFA Women's World Cup, the CFA decided to postpone its 2007 General Congress to next year.

As a result, the Executive Board meeting approved and passed the CFA work report; approved the "Revised Version of the Constitution of the Chinese Football Association" and proposed that it be submitted to the next General Congress for discussion and approval; and accepted the CFA proposal to postpone its General Congress to a suitable time after August 2008.
