BEIJING, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- American diver Troy Dumais hopes that there will be no regrets after he has competed in the Water Cube at the Beijing Olympic Games.

Having been to the Sydney and Athens Olympic Games, the Beijing Olympics is Dumais' third Olympics. "I am in the best shape of my life," said the 28-year-old at a press conference Sunday evening. "I will leave no regrets this time."

Dumais, a diving icon in his country, qualified for the men's 3 meters springboard in the Beijing Olympic Games after winning the title in the national diving trial in June.

"I will do what I can do in Beijing," said Dumais, who finished sixth in the 3m springboard in the past two Olympics.

"In Sydney, I was very close to a medal. And it got me fired up in Athens, where I made a mistake in one of my dives. Now I am good."

American divers didn't win any medal in the Athens Olympics, but Dumais was quite confident this time, "It is one of the best teams I have ever seen. We have learned from our mistakes. We are a tightly bond team that we support each other very much. When one of our teammates loses track, another person in the team will try to help him."

"Now we dives as one team. We can always lift each other out," added Dumais. "I always tell the younger divers that we have trained for four years, and our job is not done, but it is just starting."

Different from the former two Olympic Games, this time Dumais is competing in a country which is in best stage of diving. "China is an amazing country with amazing divers," said the American. "I am quite in mood. The passion cames inside. It you want it, you can go further."

"But it is going to be unique," Dumais said. "The atmosphere here is very good. I am very glad I can be able to share that in China, where people will support everybody. Every time I come here, they want to see great dives. They don't care where you come from. They know you work hard, so they reward you and they applaud you."

Born on Jan. 21, 1980, Dumais started his diving career at the age of 4. "My family is a diving family," he said. "I have three brothers and a sister, who are all divers."

Living in such a family, Dumais prospered from it very much. "My family has been a very big supporter. They know what my dream is, and they do anything they can to help me, and there is no limit. They keep me positive to deal with any problems. They let me just enjoy doing what I am doing."

"Not having a medal doesn't made me mad. A medal to me is on that giving day you are the best, that means the past 4 years you set yourself perfect for that one day." He said. "I've done the 4 years of training and I know what I am capable of doing, and what I am capable of doing is good enough."

"It's the day I am going to enjoy the moment. Whatever happens, I know I am ready for that moment," Dumais said.

After this Olympics, he said that he is still hoping to compete in London.

"Maybe I will come to London Olympics," he said. "When my love for diving ends, that will be the time I walk away."
