2008-08-05 17:36   Xinhuanet

Beijing, China, August 5, 2008 - Brazil's Talita Antunes said Tuesday she and her partner would fight for the gold medal by enjoying matches at the Beijing Olympics.

"We'll get the gold medal in Beijing. But it's more important to enjoy the matches. We'll play and relax."

The player spoke before she began a training session at the Chaoyang Park Beach Volleyball ground. Talita and partner Renata Ribeiro, who placed sixth in the FIVB Olympic qualification ranking, will compete at the Olympics for the first time.

The pair is winner of five SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medals and is one of the title favorites at the Beijing Games.

"We can defeat anyone. Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (of the United States) are strong, but let's play and see," the 26-year-old Talita said.

Talita won the 2008 "Queen of the Beach" title in Brazil and was named the top SWATCH FIVB World Tour rookie in 2005.

The Beach Volleyball Preliminary Round pools in Beijing run through August 9 to 14, followed by elimination matches from August 15 to 22.
