TOKYO, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- China won the women's 4x100m freestyle relay in a new Asian Games record time at the 2026 tournament here on Sunday.

China's quartet of Yu Yiting, Zhang Yufei, Cheng Yujie and Wu Qingfeng took gold in three minutes 33.10 seconds. Hong Kong, China claimed silver in 3:36.59 and Japan secured third in 3:39.09.

The victory saw China's swimming team win six gold, one silver and two bronze medals on the opening day's competition.
