“The IAAF fully supports the decision taken by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) to impose a lifetime ban against the coach Trevor Graham. The IAAF Rules clearly allow that coaches and other officials who aid athletes in their use of performance enhancing substances or methods can be sanctioned for these violations, and this is an important step to protecting the integrity of our sport. By encouraging the use of doping products, a coach is acting against one of their fundamental roles which is to maintain a safe and healthy training environment and as a guardian of ethics and fair play. This decision by USADA to impose a lifetime ban is a strong warning to all coaches who are considering risking the health and safety of their athletes and who are willing to cheat and betray other honest competitors in the sport”.
