ROME, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Emanuele Sella, the latest cyclist to fail a test for CERA is facing a one-year ban, ANSA news agency reported on Tuesday.
The Societa CSF Gruppo Navigare rider was caught in an out-of-competition test taken on July 23.
A two-year ban is recommended by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), but the Italian Olympic Committee's (CONI) prosecutor is recommending only one year as the rider admitted his guilt and co-operated with the court during his initial hearing on August 8.
Sella's case will now be heard by the CONI anti-doping commitee on December 1.
The 27 year-old was the surprise package of the 2008 Giro d'Italia, winning three climbing stages and the time trial at Plande Corones.
However, he is the latest rider to fail a test for CERA, which has also snared fellow riders Bernard Kohl, Riccardo Ricco, Leonardo Piepoli and Stefan Schumacher.
