(Beijing, December 19) On December 18, 2008, a donation ceremony themed "History and Future - 40 Years Olympic Anti-Doping" was jointly held by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
On behalf of China Lin Wenyi, Chairman of the Beijing Olympic Games Science and Technology Committee, donated to the Olympic Museum a long scroll carrying signatures of some 10 thousands of people, including that of Chinese President Hu Jintao, for fighting against doping in sport, a result of a two-year touring anti-doping exhibition held before the Beijing Olympic Games in local sports venues and universities of five Olympic host cities of Beijing, Hong Kong, Qingdao, Wuhan and Shanghai.
According to Patrick Schamasch, Director of the IOC Science and Medical Department, it was an honor for the IOC to work with China on such a large-scale anti-doping exhibition which was believed to be the first of its kind in the Olympic Games history. The IOC Medical and Scientific Director also expressed his thanks to Beijing for hosting an exceptionally good Olympic Games, during which over 5,000 doping tests were conducted.
At the ceremony representatives of the Olympic Museum presented a donation reception certificate to both the General Administration of Sport of China and Beijing Olympic Games Sci-Tech Committee. The scroll was going to be collected by the Olympic Museum.
