RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Leda Ferri Nascimento, a former coach and judge of gymnastics, revealed on Wednesday that Brazilian gymnast Daiane Santos, who was already involved in a doping scandal, might have taken drug for the last ten years.
She claimed that Santos took the drug before the Pan American Games of 1999 in Winnipeg, Canada.
In the Winnipeg Pan American Games, Santos won one silver and two bronze medals.
Nascimento, who never coached Daiane, said that she gave the pills to Santos just days before the Pan American Games began. She also stated that if a drug test would have been conducted, the athlete would have passed because the substance exits the body within four days.
The International Gymnastics Federation announced that Santos failed a doping test in July and the latest accusation may make Santos' case more difficult to defend.
