Lausanne, Switzerland, May 11, 2010 – Real Winner, the FIVB’s Anti-Doping educational programme for players launched its French and Spanish versions of the website on Monday hoping to broadcast the organization’s “We play it clean” message to many more athletes across the globe.
Real Winner aims to educate athletes, coaches and national federations about illegal substances through a wide range of modules which include the outlines of the FIVB’s anti-doping position, health consequences and possible scenarios should a player tests positive for a banned substance.
Real Winner also educates athletes about their responsibilities, thus helping players understand the rights they have when it comes to the anti-doping laws, ensuring they have a better understanding on how the FIVB views doping and doping cases.
Users log onto the site anonymously and are then taken to a webpage which features a number of five to 10-minute long videos. They are then sent an email recapping the most important points as well as an anti-doping certificate.
All players taking part in FIVB competitions will have to complete the programme, which can be completed in separate stages at different times thanks to the system keeping a record of how much of the course an athlete has completed.
Currently, the FIVB has one of the smallest amounts of doping cases in world sport, and it is believed that programmes such as Real Winner will decrease these numbers further as well as increase knowledge about the FIVB’s stance on anti-doping.
