ISLAMABAD, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani authorities announced a suspension of two female athletes for two years with positive dope tests.

Both Sprinters Sadaf Siddiqui and Javeria Hassan were due to take part in 100 and 200 meters races in the common wealth games but they failed in dope tests conducted four months before the competitions.

"Both Sadaf and Javeria failed dope tests and are now suspended for two years," Meesaq Rizvi, an official from Pakistan's anti- doping organization, told media.

"They can appeal against the suspension within two weeks and if they are not cleared then the suspension will turn into a two-year ban," he added.

Siddiqui, who stood seventh in her beat in the Beijing Olympics 2008, and Hassan appeared before the committee before they were banned for two years.

Pakistan, whose athletes never won a medal in Olympics, hopefully will send a group of 75 members to the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October.
