WADA Reinstates Bogota Laboratory for Anti-Doping Analysis

2010-07-13 10:21 WADA

July 12, 2010 - WADA has reinstated the accredited laboratory in Bogota, Colombia, for anti-doping analysis as of July 9.

On April 12, this laboratory, which is part of the 35 WADA accredited laboratories worldwide, was suspended from carrying out anti-doping analysis.

Pursuant to the International Standard for Laboratories, WADA is responsible for accrediting and re-accrediting anti-doping laboratories, as well as ensuring that they maintain the highest quality standards. This monitoring is conducted mainly through WADA’s External Quality Assessment Scheme and ISO conformity assessments by independent national accreditation bodies that are full members of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).

During the suspension period, the Bogota laboratory provided WADA with documentation establishing that its ISO accreditation is now granted by an accreditation body that is a full ILAC member.
