GENEVA, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- FIFA President Sepp Blatter says he wants to set up a committee to fight against corruption after scandals surrounding the World Cup hosting votes.

Blatter told Swiss newspaper Sonntags Zeitung on Monday an independent anti-corruption committee would strengthen FIFA's credibility.

Blatter expressed his willingness to present the project to FIFA's congress in June.

FIFA officials were accused of bribe-taking and vote-trading before the 2018 and 2022 World Cup elections last month.

FIFA's ethics court investigated and barred two of the 24- member executive committee from voting.

No investigative powers the anti-corruption committee would have was specified.
