February 14, 2011 - WADA President, John Fahey, along with Director General, David Howman, and Director, European Regional Office and International Federations Relations, Frédéric Donzé, met with the German, French and UK National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) last week to discuss a way forward in each country and the fight against doping in general.

Mr Fahey started his visit to Europe in Germany on February 7, where he met with NADA (Nationale Anti Doping Agentur) Chairman, Prof Hanns Michael Hoelz, and management.

This was followed by a meeting in Paris on February 10 with Mr Bruno Genevois, President of the French NADO (Agence française de lutte contre le dopage) and his management team.

Mr Fahey’s final stop was in London where he met last Friday with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) Chief Executive Andy Parkinson and UKAD’s management.

While in Europe, Mr Fahey, Mr Howman and WADA Chief Finance Officer and Legal Director Olivier Niggli, took the opportunity to meet with the European Commission and Interpol, the international police organization.

The challenges of the fight against doping in sport, from both a European and a global perspective were discussed with European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, Ms Androulla Vassiliou. WADA and the European Commission agreed to meet on a regular basis.

The meeting with Interpol highlighted the positive outcomes of a two-year collaboration, which both organizations have agreed to continue.
