08 June 2011, LAUSANNE - The third 2011 IF Staff Seminar took place at the Maison du Sport International in Lausanne on June 7th under the topic of Clean Sport.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Mattia Piffaretti as manager of WINDOP – a program centered on a preventive approach to win the fight against doping. Taking into account that athletes who are banned from competition for doping do not receive any support or rehabilitation during their sanction period, this pilot study supported by WADA, is aimed at improving the efficacy of doping bans for athletes by providing guidance and support.
A total of 35 participants took part in the seminar, representing 21 international sports federations and organizations: Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), European Athletics (EAA), Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Aviron (FISA), Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA), Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT), International Canoe Federation (ICF), Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), Fédération Internationale d'Escrime (FIE), International Skating Union (ISU), Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA), Fédération Internationale de Tir à l'Arc (FITA), International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), International Masters Games Association (IMGA), World Series of Boxing (WSB), World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), SportAccord, AC&T Sport Consulting, Ville de Lausanne and TSE Consulting.
FISU was represented by Caroline Feyaerts, SG & Medical Committee Assistant, and the Lausanneoffice staff Julie Lee and Paulo Ferreira. The next IF Staff Seminar at MSI will be on the 21st June on Development.
