TEHRAN, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Iranian canoe sprinter Shahu Naseri failed a doping test on Sunday, the local Mehr news agency reported.

Four days ahead of the 14th Asian Canoe Sprint Championships, which will take place in Tehran, Naseri was handed a two-year ban by Iran' s National Anti Doping Organization after using a prohibited substance, said the report.

According to the head of Iran' s Canoe Committee Mohsen Milad, "Shahu suffered a shoulder injury last year and he informed Iran's coach Lothar Schafer but he (the Coach) didn' t care about him. He was forced to use medicine under instruction from his doctor and we are sorry to say he tested positive," said the report.
