OCA head of Doping Control Department passes away

19 Nov 2011, Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) deeply saddens on the sudden and untimely demise of one of its great colleagues Mr. Mahmoud Khalifa Ali (51), Manager of Doping Control Department. Mr. Mahmoud was in an official mission in Incheon (KOR) where he attended the 3rd meeting of the OCA Coordination Committee for the 17th Asian Games held on November 16 – 17, 2011.

He returned to Kuwait on 18th morning and admitted the hospital on late evening on 18th and passed away on 19th morning at 2 am.

He was a Member of the WADA Education Committee. He was also the Director General of the Regional Anti-Doping Office for the GCC and Yemen apart from the Director General of NADO of Kuwait.

Mr. Mahmoud played an important role for setting up OCA’s Doping Control Department who was given lecture to different National and Regional Anti Doping Agencies across Asia.

He was very actively participated in all programmes launched by World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) for Asian continent and was focal point in Asia in doping control activities in Sports. He was recently appointed as Director General of Kuwait Anti Doping Committee.

Mahmoud left behind his wife and 4 daughters. Cremation will take place on 20th November at 9:00a.m.

OCA prays eternal peace for departed soul and conveys its deepest condolence to his family and friends.
