01 May 2012, Kuwait: WADA and the GCC & Yemen RADO Board Council have praised the new leadership within the OCA’s anti-doping department following the tragic loss of Mahmoud Khalifah Ali last November.
At the 10th GCC & Yemen RADO Board meeting at the Kuwait Regency Hotel on Tuesday, both WADA and the GCC & Yemen Board Council spoke of the valuable contribution of Mahmoud and heralded the new leadership.
“It is still painful for all of us that Mahmoud has left us,” the GCC & Yemen RADO Chaiman, Dr. Mohammed Saleh Konbaz, said in his opening speech.
“The work hasn’t stopped. Coming from the airport to today’s meeting I can see that everyone still works hard to make sport clean. I’d like to thank the OCA, Kuwait Sports Authority, the OCA’s Director General and Technical Director, Husain Al Musallam, and the new Director of the OCA Anti-Doping Department, Reza Charim, for their support and excellent work.”
The Director of WADA’s Education and Programme Development, Robert Koehler, also expressed his satisfaction with the appointment of Reza Charim as OCA Director and Nadia Al Samali (Kuwait) as GCC & Yemen RADO Director.
“Although Mahmoud isn’t with us physically, his spirit is still with us. I hope that we continue with everything he wanted to make this regional RADO become the best in the world,” he said.
“I’m very pleased to say that we are working along his path and now we are at the half-way point of the journey. The mission has been taken on by Reza, and it will ensure the success of RADO in the future.”
