May 23, 2012 - Twenty doping control officers (DCOs) in Africa received training recently thanks to an agreement between WADA and the Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers of Countries using French as a Common Language (CONFEJES).
Forming part of the Regional Anti-Doping Organizations (RADO) activities in Africa, WADA hosted DCO training workshops in Tunisia and Cameroon as part of the CONFEJES agreement signed in 2009 to assist African French-speaking countries with anti-doping initiatives.
The first workshop, delivered by the Tunisian National Anti-Doping Agency (ANAD) in Tunis from April 9-11, was for the Africa Zone II and III RADO and a total of six DCOs from Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger received training.
The Cameroon city of Douala hosted the second training workshop, offered by Antidoping Switzerland, and brought together 14 Zone IV DCOs from Cameroon, Gabon, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sao Tome and Principe and Chad.
