July 20, 2012 - WADA has announced a short-list of five projects for the prestigious 2013 Young Investigator Award.
The candidates from Canada, Jamaica, Russia and the United Kingdom will be vying for one of the four awards.
Winners will receive US$2,000 each and their profiles will be added to a special section of WADA’s website.
Now into its third year, the Young Investigator Award is designed to encourage students to focus their area of research on anti-doping issues.
The 2013 award was open to all students due to have completed a relevant master’s level research project (thesis, thesis equivalent or internship report) by January 10, 2013.
The winners will be announced in March of next year.
The short listed projects are:
Ms. Olivia Durst, Canada – Athletes’ Values, Attitudes and Justifications for the Doping Ban: A Canadian Perspective
Ms. Olivia Durst, Canada – Athlete, Coach and Sport Administrator Perceptions of the Canadian Center for Ethics in Sport
Ms. Kelsey Erickson, UK – Are there protective factors and/or clusters of shared protective factors amongst competitive level athletes with regards to performance enhancing drugs (PEDS) in sports?
Mr. Alexandr Gumenyuk, Russia – Evaluation of adaptive regulatory athletes’ status, as a marker of the influence of doping on the prospects
Ms. Arusha McKensie, Jamaica – Building Effective Doping Prevention Strategies through Educational Campaigns amongst Jamaican Athletes
