MOSCOW, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Russian anti-doping agency (Rusada) temporarily suspended a number of athletes from participating competitions for their alleged use of prohibited substances, the agency said Tuesday.

Rusada suspended 25-year-old pole vaulter Ivan Gertlein after a positive test on doping taken on Oct. 15 during competitions in Sochi, the host city of the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics, said the agency in a statement.

The final decision will be made after Rusada's anti-doping commission finds out if the athlete has violated the rules, local media reported.

Rusada also suspended powerlifter Ruslan Podobin and six other male and female athletes for similar violations committed in October.

During the London Paralympics this summer, two Russian powerlifters were disqualified from the games for doping.

Vadim Rakitin and Nikolai Marfin took a drug named neotropin which was prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency, and were thus kicked out from the London Games.
