31 Jan 2013, Tehran, Iran: The weightlifting and anti-doping worlds are joining forces to stage the International Symposium on Anti-Doping and Sports Supplements in Weightlifting at Kish Island, Iran, on March 6-7. The International Weightlifting Federation, Asian Weightlifting Federation, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Iran Anti-Doping Organisation are among the patrons of the event.

Ali Moradi, Secretary General of the Asian Weightlifting Federation, commented: “Asian lifters succeeded in taking 13 of the 15 gold medals available at the London Olympic Games.

“Fortunately, in addition to achieving these brilliant results and breaking world and Olympic records, no positive case of doping was observed among the Asian weightlifters. This is indicative of the strenuous efforts and attempts being made in compliance with the objectives of anti-doping in Asia. “It is to this background that we are organising the first anti-doping seminar in Kish Island, Iran.”
