Weightlifting holds anti-doping symposium in Iran

11 Mar 2013, Kish Island, Iran: The 1st Asian Weightlifting Federation Anti-Doping Symposium commenced on March 6 in the presence of Iran's Sports & Youth Minister, Dr. Abbasi, and in association with IWF, AWF & Sports Medicine Federation, Iran NADO and the Iran National Olympic Committee. The four main subjects were: the prohibited list; medical complications of prohibited drugs; rules, responsibilities and accountability; and the therapeutic use exemption.

The Symposium was well received by all participants . During the opening ceremony, Mr Ali Moradi, AWF General Secretary, expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the organising committee.

Dignitaries and representatives of different countries attended the symposium such as Dr. Antonio Urso, President of the European Weightlifting Federation, Mr Ma Wenguang, General Secretary of IWF, Ibrahim Abu Ashwan, President of Arab countries Weightlifting Association, and other high-ranking officials. At the end of the Symposium certificates were awarded to the participants and officials by Mr. Moradi.
